Our students can now begin their college journey prepared, confident, and focused on making their dream of obtaining a post-secondary education a reality.

We gave away 123 college trunks to excited college-bound students at the South Shore Cultural Center as part of our 15th Annual Revie Sorey Trunk Scholarship Celebration. The trunks included school supplies and necessities for dorm living, along with the technology tools necessary to take full advantage of all education formats and platforms available for learning (laptops, noise cancelling ear buds, etc).

Students were honored for their hard work and heard an inspirational keynote address from Torrence Hinton, president of Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas and an alum of our College Preparation & Placement Program. We then topped off the evening by honoring Torrence with our Ada S. McKinley Legacy Award at The Gathering, a VIP Post-Reception. Guests enjoyed networking and live music by recipients of our Trace Sorey Music Scholarship and students from the VanderCook College of Music.

Take a peek into the program book for the evening which provides the list of students who received trunks, the colleges they will be attending, a complete list of trunk items, and more!

A huge thank you to Torrence Hinton for joining us with his family and being such an inspiration to our students. And a major shout out to Jewell Hillery, news anchor and reporter with WGN TV/Channel 9 for serving as our mistress of ceremonies for the evening.

We truly appreciate our sponsors who made it all possible!
