Redefining Redlining: We were proud to join neighbors, community organizations, city officials and other volunteers for a mass tulip planting event on vacant lots in the Washington Park neighborhood today, starting at 53rd Street & Prairie Avenue.

Redefining Redlining is a public art project focused on planting 100,000 tulips to re-imagine the value of blocks and vacant lots on the south side that have been impacted by redlining. The discriminatory practice began all over the country in the 1940s and created a long-lasting devastation and vacancy we experience daily on the south and west sides of Chicago.

Hosted by artist Amanda Williams in partnership with the Emerald South Economic Development Collaborative and the Terra Firma initiative.
