A roaring round of applause and congratulations to Wendell Phillips Academy High School senior Desean Logan-Russell on passing the $1 million mark in college scholarships! Desean is a student with our College Preparation & Placement Program that has placed more than 75,000 youth in more than 400 colleges and universities throughout the United States. He was one of several young men who participated in our annual From the Classroom to the Boardroom gathering where business leaders and high school juniors and seniors engage in meaningful conversation about opportunities for young black men, and the challenges all leaders face on the road to achieving success.
Desean is an academic scholar in addition to being an amazing athlete. All of the $1 million+ in scholarships he has received thus far have been merit-based. In addition, Desean has already started his journey as a first-generation college student by taking courses at Northwestern University and Chicago State University.
Former NFL stars Cam Newton and Brandon Marshall personally congratulated Desean during a recent surprise visit to Phillips.
