Ada S. McKinley’s Employment and Community Support Services essential staff team are protecting the well-being of people served with developmental and intellectual disabilities by providing virtual resources and using motivational strategies to encourage following social distance measures.  Residents are adapting to new ways of staying connected with family and friends through virtual visits.  Wearing masks, washing hands frequently, and cleaning/sanitizing common area surfaces is celebrated and referred to as being a Social Distance Supporter.  There have been no cases of COVID-19 to date among the 121 residents served, many of whom represent the at-risk older population.
