We are proud to share that two participants of our Self-Advocacy Program for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, Donta Jones and Derenda Griffis, graduated from the Illinois Self Advocacy Alliance Ambassador Leadership Program. During the five-month training, they focused on independent learning in the areas of research, technology, planning meetings and events, public speaking, advocacy, and outreach through educational webinars, group trainings, and one-on-one mentoring. Donta and Derenda led a presentation on Self-Advocacy during a service training at our McCrone location to share what they learned.
