Live Christmas Trees are returning to Navy Pier! More than 1,200 Chicago families will receive free Christmas trees to brighten their holiday season. Ada S. McKinley will be joining the Coast Guard and Christmas Tree Ship Committee on Saturday, December 3rd at 8:30 am for the annual, citywide Chicago Christmas Tree Ship ceremony. Once the trees are unloaded from the Cutter Mackinaw, the largest Coast Guard ship on the Great Lakes, they are distributed throughout the city to families by community nonprofits (coordinated by Ada S. McKinley).
Tree unloading begins at 8:30 am and the Official Tree Ceremony is at 10:00 am.
This joyful service to the Chicago community continues for the 23rd year with Ada S. McKinley as a leader and collaborator for last 15 years. View news coverage from last year’s ceremony and learn more about the wonderful Christmas Tree Ship tradition.
