Ada was well represented for the 2018 Special Olympics 50th Anniversary year. Athletes we serve with developmental and intellectual disabilities participated in the City Bowling Tournament for the first time our agency’s history, earning two gold medals, one silver, and the opportunity to compete in the upcoming Sectional Tournament. We were also represented in the City Tennis Tournament with five of our athletes qualifying for the upcoming state competition.

The 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Special Olympics closed out with the Global Day of Inclusion, a free festival offering sports, interactive games, exhibits, delicious food offerings, and live entertainment. Ada participated as one of the more popular exhibitors offering giveaways to visitors of our booth through a spin wheel game, and to those who texted “ADAJOBS” through our newly developed mobile outreach application. Our athletes had the opportunity to meet NBA player Jabari Parker of the Chicago Bulls (pictured), NBA All Star Sam Perkins, and NBA Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo during the festivities.
