Ada S. McKinley’s Educational Services program hosted a “Mock Funeral” to give 80 young men a reality check by having them participate in a ceremony mourning their own deaths. Through its What Are You Prepared to Do to Save A Life? initiative, the agency is using a restorative justice curriculum to tackle gun-violence and social reform to give students insight into the hostility and anger contributing the gun-violence epidemic. The Mock Funeral was intended to convince the young men that it’s not too late to change and avoid violent conflicts, while inspiring them to make better decisions that will inevitably save their lives.  View ABC7 Chicago News Coverage of this Event
