We were proud to be a part of the 23rd Annual Cop on a Rooftop event as law enforcement officers collected donations at Dunkin’ locations throughout the Chicago area to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics. Donuts were provided as a token of appreciation and free incentive for making a donation. Two of our athletes, Brandon and Donta, joined officers at the 1651 W. Roosevelt Road location on the near West Side where they were able to meet Cole Kmet, Tight End for the Chicago Bears, and mascot Staley Da Bear, as well as participate in an interview with Fox 32 Chicago alongside Special Olympics Illinois CEO Peter Beale-DelVecchio.
During this annual event law enforcement officers station themselves atop Dunkin’ businesses and lower buckets to collect donations from passerby and drive-through customers to empower athletes with intellectual disabilities through year-round sports training and competition. This year’s effort successfully raised $1.25 million at more than 380 participating Dunkin’ locations in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Over 330 of those stores were in the immediate Chicago area.
