Congratulations Class of 2021 graduates!
Ada S. McKinley wants to help you begin your college
journey by providing the learning essentials you need.
This includes distance learning tools to support your ability to
remain safe and academically connected during the COVID-19 pandemic.
About the Trunk Scholarships
Our Annual Revie Sorey Trunk Scholarships are an important extension of our acclaimed College Preparation & Placement Program that has placed more than 75,000 youth in more than 400 colleges and universities throughout the United States. Named in honor of former Ada S. McKinley division director and Chicago Bear Revie Sorey who started the program over a decade ago, the Trunk Scholarships provide our college-bound honorees with the living and learning essentials first-year students need to begin their college journey. Over the past 13 years, each trunk has been filled with the things they need to get settled into their dorm rooms (desk supplies, bedding and linens, electronics, and other necessities).
2021 MODIFICATIONS
Prompted by COVID-19 and colleges/universities anticipating remote learning status for an extended period, Ada S. McKinley is modifying this program for 2021. We will not be hosting a celebratory event, but we remain committed to providing trunks to students. Distribution will be done this summer with social distancing in mind, and this year’s trunks will provide students with distance learning tools to support their ability to remain safe and academically connected. A Memento Booklet will be placed inside each trunk (will include a photo of each Trunk Scholarship recipient, their name, the college/university they are attending). We will also celebrate our students’ accomplishments in other ways.
