Our students have prevailed through a pandemic and are college bound! Help equip our high school graduates for college by providing them with the distance learning tools they need to remain safe and academically connected as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our Annual Revie Sorey Trunk Scholarships are an important extension of our acclaimed College Preparation & Placement Program that has placed more than 70,000 youth in more than 400 colleges and universities throughout the United States. Named in honor of former Ada S. McKinley division director and Chicago Bear Revie Sorey who launched the program over a decade ago, the Trunk Scholarships provide our college-bound honorees with the living and learning essentials they need to begin their college journey. For 13 years, Ada has provided each scholar with a trunk filled with the desk supplies, bedding and linens, electronics, and necessities to settle into their dorm rooms and campus living.
As we emerge from the global COVID-19 pandemic and colleges anticipate remote and hybrid learning options for the 2021 academic year, Ada S. McKinley remains committed to providing trunks to our students. We will again distribute trunks during a “pick up” day event in July with social distancing practices in place. Our trunks will provide students with distance learning tools to enable their ability to remain safe and academically connected. A Memento Book will be given to sponsor partners and placed inside each trunk (including the name and photo of each Trunk Scholar and the college/university they will attend, a list of sponsors, and sponsor advertisements). Supporters will also enjoy access to the winning student essays.
