Comcast employees join Ada S. McKinley alumni, board and staff for a packing party at our Employment & Community Services and Behavioral Health & Clinical Services program locations. Projects include: assembling college trunks for first-generation students to provide them with the living and learning essentials first-year students need to adjust and reach success in their new environment; bundling books for children served by our early learning programs; and assembly of crisis packets for people in need of mental health, substance abuse and domestic violence intervention.

Trailblazed by Revie Sorey, former Ada S. McKinley Educational Services program director and Chicago Bear, this annual celebration awards first-generation college students with off-to-college trunks filled with the things first-year students need to adjust and reach success in their new environment. In honor of the agency’s Centennial, 100 trunks will be awarded to 100 future college graduates.

McKinley hosted to bring together thought leaders in support of expanding human service resources when she founded our agency 100 years ago. Cheryl Burton, News Anchor & Reporter with WLS-TV/ABC 7 Chicago will be honored as an alumna of Ada S. McKinley’s College Preparation and Placement Program.

100-Year Anniversary Staff Holiday Celebration

Ada S. McKinley staff close out the Centennial year with a very special holiday celebration. This red-carpet style gathering will bring together the employees who make it happen daily across programs and locations serving over 7,000 people annually. Festivities include food, live music, prizes, special awards recognizing long-serving staff, and a Holiday Toy Drive for children served by our foster care, emergency shelter, head start, and behavioral health programs. Entertainment provided by iHeart Media and local radio personalities.
