Job Summary

Administers the operation of the residential center within the Agency’s total program and objectives under the general direction of the Director of Habilitation Services.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

• Designs and implements educational, self care and recreational programs in conjunction with the recommendation of the interdisciplinary team.
• Coordinates the efforts of the staff toward meeting residents’ needs in a consistent and effective manner. Facilitates intra and inter departmental efforts toward implementing resident care plans in all resident care and support areas.
• Coordinates the intake process and directs the facility evaluation team.
• Provides or ensures the provision of In-Service Training as determined by resident needs and as required by regulating agency’s standards.
• Coordinates the scheduling of residents to ensure that individuals needs are met and that active programming is carried out.
• Recommends and participates in the formulation of resident care policy in conjunction with the Administrator.
• Directs the operation of the center in accordance with licensing agency standards and agency policies and philosophies.
• Selects trains and supervises center staff.
• Provides for adequate staff coverage sufficient for program implementation and resident supervision and guidance.
• Develops specific, structured, learning and maintenance programs directed toward independence in the self-administration of prescribed medication for each resident.
• Assists in preparation and development of the annual agency plan; recommends and administers the center budget.
• Maintains proper and appropriate paperwork.
• Establishes and maintains good relations with the community, other agencies in community and with families served. Presents program to a wide variety of community groups, coordinating programs with other segments of the agency or with other community activities.
• Coordinates records of residents’ trust funds along with the Administrative Office.

 
Education/Experience
• The position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the behavioral sciences, and at least one year of experience with the Developmentally Disabled population.
• This position requires a valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle report acceptable to the agency’s insurance broker.
• Demonstrated the experiences, beliefs, attitude and awareness that indicate cultural sensitivity to the client population served.
• Ability to partner with clients individually, and as a family, to help them mobilize resources and their inner capacity to address problems they faces.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with other team members, other Agency resources and outside services in addressing client needs.
