Summary |
Designs program curriculum to build skills in reading, writing and math for academically challenged 6th, 7th. 8th grade students. In conjunction with designing curriculum, creates corresponding enrichment activities to build self-esteem, develops job character and reinforces program goals and objectives. Develops, administers and evaluates middle school agency programs consistent with Agency policies and standards as determined by the Chicago Public schools, Illinois State Board of Educational Standards, Federal Talent Search Guidelines and all relevant program funders.

| Education/Experience |
| Must have a Bachelor’s degree, 2+ year’s experience with early intervention or elementary teaching/tutoring programs, at least four years supervisory experience or related training and 2+ year’s experience working in a social service agency. Requirements also include skills in the following areas: Foundation or survey of reading fundamentals including reading in the content area; Testing procedures and diagnosis of reading disabilities; Diagnostic teaching techniques and materials; Clinical or laboratory practice in reading; Proficient in WordPerfect 6.0, Microsoft Office/Word (5.0 and Excel); Excellent written and oral communication skills; Excellent organizational skills; Position requires the use of a personal vehicle and a driving record and insurance in accordance with agency policy.
