Ada S. McKinley to Honor U of C President Emeritus and News Personalities at Annual Breakfast for Education Fund Raiser
University of Chicago President Emeritus and Professor of History Hanna H. Gray, Merri Dee, WGN-TV director of community relations, and Theresa Gutierrez, WLS-TV news reporter, will be honored at Ada S. McKinley Community Services annual Breakfast for Education on May 21 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick. The tribute honors the three women for demonstrating educational excellence throughout their careers. The women are also the keynote speakers for the event and WBBM-TV reporter John Davis will emcee.
Continuing the agencys 84-year history of helping persons with disabilities, the unserved and underserved, Ada S. McKinley Community Services believes that every child deserves an education. Education programs are offered to inner-city youth, including head start, special education and tutoring. To date, more than 57,000 students have been placed in colleges and universities throughout the United States through Talent Search, the agencys college preparation and placement program.
Founded in 1919 by Ada Sophia McKinley, a pioneer social worker and educator herself, Ada S. McKinley Community Services, Inc. has developed and grown to become one of Chicagos largest and most effective private social service agencies. The mission of Ada S.
