Crain's Chicago Business Ranks Ada S. McKinley Community
Services as Ninth Largest Charity in Chicago
Chicago, IL--According to the Crain's Chicago Business
(February 23, 2004), Ada S. McKinley Community Services, Inc. was
ranked the ninth largest Chicago charity in 2003, with a $38.3 million
operating budget. McKinley joins 24 other prestigious human services
agencies with budgets ranging from $153.9 to $17.6 million in the
Crain's List.
The listing includes tax-exempt charitable organizations registered under section 501(c)3 of the U.S. tax code, including national charities with operations in the six-county Chicago area: Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake McHenry and Kane counties.
Founded in 1919 by Ada Sophia McKinley, a pioneer social worker
and educator, Ada S. McKinley Community Services, Inc. has grown
to become one of Chicago's largest and most effective human services
agencies. Mental health, child care, educational, foster care and
adoption, vocational training services, and residential living arrangements
are offered throughout 42 facilities located on Chicago's South
and West Sides. Ada S. McKinley Community Services' mission is to
serve those who, because of disabilities or other limiting conditions
need help in finding and pursuing paths leading to healthy, productive
and fulfilling lives.
